Cake smash has become very popular as a fun way of celebrating a child's first birthday. Basically, put a cake in front of your young child, let them go crazy and photograph the resulting carnage!
Connect Photography's cake smash photoshoots are an affordable option to capture a memorable and 'messy' occasion for your child's birthday... Get those fantastic shots of your child having fun while covered in cake!
Sessions normally last about an hour and take place in my little Runcorn based studio.
My cake smash sessions focus around the baby and the cake – so they don't have lots of props in the background (which look great for one photo, but are distracting for the rest). That being said, you are welcome to bring your own balloons or banners etc to personalise things.
We can take some pictures of your baby (in a separate outfit if you want) before things start to get messy.
Usually cake smashes are for just one child, but they can be done for twins too – introducing an older/younger sibling doesn't work too well... It's best to have fewer distractions so your child can focus on pulverising the cake!
You will need to provide the cake for the session, for health and safety reasons I can't provide them (plus it lets you make things a bit more personal with your own choice of cake – although I personally wouldn't recommend chocolate, for obvious reasons!)
While being DBS checked isn't a legal requirement for a photographer, I have a DBS certificate for full peace of mind.
Images are usually ready on the same day as the shoot (if it's an early photoshoot).
A payment of £50 is required up-front to secure the date, which is deducted from the package price – the remaining balance (£50 or £75) is due on the day of the shoot.
Prints start from just £2 each (Plus Postage and Packing) and are purchased directly through your gallery – you can share the gallery as much as you want with friends and family. The gallery will stay live for about 3 months, giving you plenty of opportunity to download your digital files and purchase prints.
